How do I reset my learning progress?
Go to Settings within the app and select "Reset Progress". Note that this action cannot be undone.
The text-to-speech is not working properly
Make sure your device's text-to-speech settings are configured correctly. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-Speech on your device and ensure the Japanese voice is downloaded and enabled.
How do I add custom vocabulary?
Use the "+" button in the Vocabulary section to add custom words. You can also import vocabulary lists from files using the import feature.
The app crashes when opening
Try the following steps: 1) Restart your device, 2) Update to the latest app version from the store, 3) Clear the app cache in your device settings, 4) Reinstall the app if the issue persists.
How do I export my vocabulary?
Go to Vocabulary > Settings (three dots menu) > Export. You can export as CSV or share directly to other apps.
Why is the audio not playing?
Check that: 1) Your device volume is not muted, 2) The app has audio permissions, 3) Try closing other apps that may be using audio.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, most features work offline. Text-to-speech requires an internet connection for the first download of voice data. Once downloaded, it works offline.
Troubleshooting
If you're experiencing issues, try these steps in order:
- Restart the app - Close it completely and reopen
- Restart your device - This clears temporary cache files
- Update the app - Install the latest version from App Store or Google Play
- Clear app cache - Go to Settings > Apps > Learn Japanese > Storage > Clear Cache
- Reinstall the app - Uninstall and reinstall from your app store
Data Backup
Your learning progress is stored locally on your device. To prevent data loss:
- Regularly export your vocabulary using the export feature
- Enable automatic backups in your device settings
- Uninstalling the app will delete all local data
